Trip to Jogyakarta. Author by Suresh

Nothing to post from me today so i decided to paste this email from Suresh. It's actually an advice from Suresh (Tae) to one of my colleague who taking a trip to Jogyakarta on this April.

No edit. Original and copied from the original source! (",)
So here how it started:

Dear suresh,

Still remember our trip to jogja last year?
Here I introduce to you Ms.Lim, our design team draft designer,
She will be going to jogja this end of april with few others.
Refer the mail below and Need your advice man..

Dear MsLim,

As what I know, last time we stayed there for 5 days and we don’t even spend more that Rm350 include the food, transport and accommodations! ;)
Everything is soo cheap but need to take note that last time my trip is a backpackers trip! So we moving in a budget.. hehe ;)
From my experience your budget should be enough for this trip but better bring more then less because you don’t want to stuck and spend a night in a guest house which share a bathroom like what happen to my trip before! In travel - The weird experience is the best experience! ;)
Need to keep in mind that – the food there is unexpected too.. The best food that we took when we were there is KFC! hehe

Rgds,
Susamrd

Hi Ms Lim,
Nice to meet you too… even though in email only.

Yeap!!!  What Sam have told you on previous email is absolutely right, we only spend less then Rm400 for all 4 night and 5 days. I believe it only can be fulfill if you go travel like backpackers ways which is budget comes first and comfortable last priority.

Talk about the best place that you should visit and you can’t miss while you in YogJa are,
Here I attach the picture to make you more excited hehehe.

Firstly Prambanan Temple:

All over this place was perfect for me, the scenery is very nice, at the time that we reached there, after we had our lunch at the shop call “ Makanan Padang”  similar to our local food  but the taste totally different ( you can ask  Sam how is the taste), hehehe and that moment we always think about KFC hehehehe.

At the time we was there and it’s very hot and sunny day, but suddenly heavy rain from the dark sky  but we are lucky enough it’s over after 30 minute hehe so we can continue enjoy taking picture again.

Normally local people will recommended you to visit Prambanan on second half of the day so then you can spend time during Sunset. I bet you, you won’t regret waiting for the very beautiful sunset at Prambanan Temple.

Next is Borobudur

At the Borobudur we stay at in the guest house just beside of the main entrance to Candi. If I’m not mistaken the Guest House name “Lotus Guest house”
It cost us RM40 per night for double bed room. The first picture was taken on the roof top our at guest house we stay at borobudr. From the guest house that we stayed we can see the top of the Candi.

Our activity at Borobudur is travelling around the village by “Motor Mabur”  which mean Flying Motor hehehe. This motor belongs to the local trishaw rider name Jamal. He brought us travel around on his vespa to see the Borobudur in different angle and the villagers’ activity. We have so much fun time on our first day.  We pay jamal 30000 rupiah = Rm 10 for the trip.

Borobudur is the place at jogja….. enjoy all the picture I share..

Regards,
Suresh

Raine's Convocation 05 April 2010

Susamraine is his name. 5th April is his convocation day and it is on Monday, so i have to take leave again! (I wish to keep all my leave for vacation :(. Holding a DSLR on Convocation event is not easy for me, have to keep up with my brother all way long some more the setting on my D90 is yet fully mastered. You know, these students keep on walking and chasing around with their friends for pictures. So what happened to me is that i have to walk and run with them (if only i were hired by my brother, fuhh what a tired day but then no 'duit kopi'). So kat bawah is some of the picture taken during that event. Something is not right with those pictures posted but then, this is some of hundreds that i do like!

He really admired this kind of picture, throwing that convo's hat (i dont know what it's called) into the air. I do take a few photo of this actions.

Panas and panas and panas, that's the only word on his head right now. Me as his slave-camera-man also impacted by this sunny sun. The first day back to office after the convocation, i become the darkest person in town!

Posting with some of his friends 1.
Me playing with setting while they all smiling at the other camera, so manage to pop up with flash. And i do like the sharpness of this picture probably it's because of the flash setting.

Posting with some of his friends again 2.
Me have to ask their permission twice before i satisfied with their eyes! ;)

So, that's all.  Sorry for the poor English and i try to post more later or bila2 i free!

PHUKET'S 2010' Day 5

Date: 28th March
Comrades: Susam, Tae, Wood, Kai, Thep
Activity: Island trip from Phuket, Snorkeling, Beach explore.
Place of interest: All day long kat Long island or Koh Yao!

So this is what happen that day, i woke up early in the morning. Alone and walking all the way of the beach, trying to find the best spot for picture. What i came out is this, as you can see the picture above is the only picture i manage to shot that early morning. Where is other picture? No, there's no other picture than this. Why? The toilet ringing at the moment i land my tripod on this beautiful beach. Seingat aku lar, kat tepi gambar ni ada 'P' or parking local fisherman punya boat! No picture for that, so bad, bad bad toilet! ;(

Yg ini pula time kita travel all along the island dengan motor yang kita orang sewa kelmarin. So apa yang best, we found the kilang process ikan bilis. Ikan bilis - dried little fish! Hehe, not sure what it sound in English. But from they info, all this bilis will be transport to Phuket. Means orang2 kat phuket eat this 'dried little fishy' from Koh yao!

Photo and Paper Size? It's confusing.

Doubting on the photo paper size, so i do a check out on www. And This is what i found on the net today,
A size chart illustrating the ISO A series and a comparison with American letter and legal formats.

From the picture illustration, now i understand that each size of the paper is the double size of it's Smaller paper before.
Example:
A3 = 2x A4
A2 = 2x A3
A1 = 2x A2
The ISO paper sizes
So, from the explanation given above we can guess how big the paper would be. The best comparison is by using the A4 size paper, so to know the A3 size you just need to double up the A4 paper.
In order to ask the shop to print a photo, is it possible to ask them in the 'A' term? Or from what i know mostly the store will provide the photo pictures in 'R' therm such 5R, 4R, 8R etc.
Photograph sizes
By comparing the photograph and paper size above, it does confuse right. There's no such 4R = A6 or 8R = A4 in actual size? Hm.. Need to find out more regarding this paper and photo size.
I get this source from wikipedia, check it out:

Sorry for my poor english

PHUKET'S 2010' Day 3

Date: 26th March
Comrades: Susam, Tae, Wood, Kai, Thep
Activity: Island trip from Phuket, Snorkeling, Beach explore.
Place of interest: Phuket town, Koh Maya, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ling (Monkey Island), Koh Khai nOrk.

125B/pax is the total money we need to pay for this island trip (speed boat - i still remember the boat have 3 engines and it’s swift). The tour travel over all the best island spot in Andaman Sea such the Koh Maya, Koh Ling, and Koh Khai and Koh Phi Phi. The program starts at 8.30pm (local time), so we manage to take breakfast (the same store we took breakfast on the day before). The van comes straight to the hotel front door taking us to the jetty. If not mistaken the jetty called 'Marina'. It's was a very hot and sunny day, me no lucky because I ruined my own sunglass at the jetty. Means I have to keep my eyes open as small as possible - the sun is very very bright that day!

The tour guide who will supervised all the crew on the boat called 'Tanya', she will monitor and do the explained to all of us, I think is around 30 peoples. (Most of the tourist who on the boat is West Asians+ 5 of us from Malaysia!).

Kg Tanah Licin - The river side view

Location: Kg. Tanah Licin, Kedah Malaysia
Setting: 18mm, ISO400, 1/400s, F/10
Time: 31-1-2010, 5.22pm

I was lucky enough to be on the right time that day, what i mean is the sky. The blue2 skies.. The sky play a very important part in picture, Especially if we're shooting the landscape!

This river is previously used by the villagers to travel from place to place. But now a day no more travel on the water since all the road facilities is well prepared and now it's known as the best place to catch fish (ikan air tawar)! Alot type of fish you can find in this river and mostly the villagers will used traditionally way like in order to catch those fish such the 'pukat', 'mila', 'joran' and etc. ( i should take the picture of those equipment they used to catch fish). Everytime i go back to Kg.Tanah Licin, sure i dapat makan ikan besar2 hehe..

p/s: Kg. Tanah Licin is my fiancé home town.. ;)

Teluk Kumbar

This picture taken during my visit to Teluk kumbar penang. White sand beach + clear sea water. It's is the best place to having a picnic with your friends and family. As i went there, i can see alot of people fishing along the Teluk Kumbar beach (altough non of them catch any - i got ask few of them! 5/5 haha...).

From the picture snaped, 2 guys doing a kayaking trough the sea. At Teluk Kumbar, we can rent the kayak while on the beach we can enjoy the sunny bright white sand.

Location of Teluk Kumbar in penang island:
How to go:
By car - Drive along the way from Bayan Lepas to Balik Pulau, at the middle of the way you'll find a signboard to Teluk Kumbar. (if you lost in the middle, try to ask the local people - they will be happy to help!)
By boat - I'm not really sure where these speed boat come from (penang area), but i guess they can bring you all the way to Batu Feringgi. So it's means that you no need to drive all the way to Teluk kumbar, just park your car around Batu Feringgi and try to search for the boat. ;)

SUNRISE PANORAMA - Padi's field

Panorama view of Padi's field early in the morning. Kena bangun awal that day just to catch up with the sun (agan2 to have my first sunrise shot)! As the picture taken is not the best of all on that day, i come out with this idea "Panorama" using Photoshop's photomerge menu. This picture was taken with the camera in vertical position. And overall 5 pictures merged together in order to create this wonderful view of Padi's field located at Bandar Perda, Penang.

My First Sunset Shoot

D90, VR18-105mm, 1/80s, 1/16f, ISO200

My first Sunset Shoot
Location: Perda, Seberang Prai, Penang

This is my first ever sunset shoot using my Nikon D90. With using the tripod to held the Camera, i manage to shoot this picture firmly. Some more this shoot was taken on the M-mode (manual mode) where is most of the professional's photographer do!
At first i fixed the aperture (desired DOF), and Adjustment mostly done on the shutter speed to control the light. By adjusting the ISO i manage to get better color. Quite a number of shoots taken and this is the best for me. If you notice, the sun was blocked by the cloud!
This sunset picture make me want to shoot more.. Especially for the sunset and sunrise! For more picture from my Nikon D90 please do visit my flickr: SuS@M,

My D90

So finally, this machine is mine! 27th Nov 09' is the date i purchased this new D90. Cost me for RM4449 (+ kit lens + 50mm f1.8 + the filters for both lens). For the first time handling this camera, my hand was shaking. Not even dare to hold the lens attached firmly (excited + nervous)!. I've done some snapping in the shop before manage to dumb all the money for the seller (his name is Micheal). We both do the talking in Thai language though. (You know what it sound like when a Chinese guy do the Thai talking) ;), but he is nice. No any nice picture snapped on that day. So as part of DSLR Nikonian's, this is my shout out'!

"HEY you photographer out there, future's professional photographer is on his way..! ;)"
